A chronology of activity in the developing cortex: From silence to continuity
In this paper published in the Journal of Neuroscience, we have tracked daily changes in the activity of developing mouse cortex until postnatal day (P)24, when activity becomes comparable to the mature cortex. Rather than selecting activity patterns to quantify, this paper applied unbiased quantification of total frequency during periods of quiet wakefulness in animals at rest. We hope this paper will serve as a reference for mouse studies of perturbed development as results from complications of birth, genetic disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
